Book Review

Here is the third edition of Antonio Hopson’s widely published work, with additional stories included. The tales cover the tough yet sentimental world of bikers, the constantly changing role of an ancient building, violent weather bringing death, and the power of the vernal equinox. This book will be appreciated by anyone who enjoys thoughtful and emotion-charged writing. Here is a review from The Harrow Magazine: Antonio Hopson spins gentle legends and quiet love stories. From biker goddesses to mythical tricksters, from feuding winds to debauched taverns, the subjects of "The Vernal Equinox of Death and Kisses and Other Short Stories" reveal the author's romantic enchantment with the world around him, even when it's at its grittiest. -- Dru Pagliassotti, Editor in Chief, The Harrow

This book is amazing. I found it in the "On Sale" section at barnes and noble's, and I flipped through it, expecting to only read for a couple minutes. An hour later, I had finished the book and went to purchase it. This book is just amazing. It has the mix of all of the good writing techniques. If you're on the fence about buying this book, trust me, BUY IT. It is short, but wonderfully entertaining.

I saw this book on a "waiting" table at the Microsoft campus, knowing I had a few minutes to kill I quickly browsed through it, well truth be told, about 12 hours later I purchased the book online, and kudos to me for not harking it out of that office. Antonio Hopson is a great independent writer and should have corporate muscle, I would love to see more from this guy. The stories were fun, interesting, and I love how he gives great detail to the hidden things in our lives that you would never, ever think about. I really believe most people will enjoy this book. I sure did.

Antonio Hopson finds beauty, humor, triumph, and tragedy in the shabbier places of Seattle, among its barflies and bikers, along its rocky beaches, and in the eyes of its stargazers. Hopson's Seattle reminds me of Charles Bukowski's Los Angeles, a city with a pulse that can be found inside the shabby bars, within old buildings, on decrepit piers, and along rainy roadways. The book title, The Vernal Equinox of Death and Kisses, reflects the convergence of narrative, poetry, and vignette within. This is a fantastic read.

I keep this book on my bedside table for when I need a distraction from my busy thoughts and it never fails to transport me to a moment outside of myself, wrapped up in the author's clever prose. It's a gem of a find for short story enthusiasts!
